I Got Da Nutz

Here's an interesting hand, that I think that some of you can learn a thing or two about. Mainly, don't re-raise a dude that just check-raised you on the river, unless you have the absolute nutz. You are welcome.

Why would I raise with pocket 5's in MP? Here is why. It was folded to me and the was a dude (PLayer 3) that just posted, so I wanted to test the new guy. I also figured that I had a pretty decent shot at stealing the blinds here, and if not, than at least I had a nice hand (sort of). I wasn't really thrilled when they both called me though. Let's see what the flop brings.

*** FLOP *** [7h 6d 5c]
HERO: bets $2
SUCKER: calls $2
Player 3: folds

MONEY!!!!! I was pretty pumped about this flop, but I dang sure wasn't going to slow play with a flop like that. It was pretty likely that he'd have at least some sort of straight draw here.

*** TURN *** [7h 6d 5c] [9d]

HERO: bets $4
SUCKER: raises $4 to $8
HERO: calls $4

Rugh row Shaggy. Now I make a call screaming for the board to pair. Can it this once?

*** RIVER *** [7h 6d 5c 9d] [5h]

HERO: checks
SUCKER: bets $4
HERO: raises $4 to $8
SUCKER: raises $4 to $12
HERO: raises $4 to $16 Betting is capped
SUCKER: calls $4

That's even better than pairing the board, don't you think? I couldn't believe that he re-raised me once I check-raised the river. You'd have to think that somebody has a pretty good hand to check-raise on the river, right? Nah, let's 3 bet it. Sucker.

*** SHOW DOWN ***HERO: shows [5d 5s] (four of a kind, Fives)
SUCKER: mucks hand
HERO collected $67 from pot

*** SUMMARY ***Total pot $69 Rake $2 Board [7h 6d 5c 9d 5h]
SUCKER mucked [Qs 8s]
HERO showed [5d 5s] and won ($67) with four of a kind, Fives
