Hump day

It's funny how I can have one really great session, where the cards were only going my way, only to follow up that session with the complete opposite. The net result of these two polar opposite sessions?....................Up $5. That's right, I was playing 3 $1/$2 tables in each of those sessions and that's what I ended up with. I thought that the big winning session was the sign that things were turning around, as I've already had waaaaaaay more than my fair share of bad beats/suckouts/horrific play. But noooooo. It figures. During the bad session yesterday, I was dealt AA twice in about 10 minutes at one tables and both times I raise and what do I win? You guessed it, the blinds. Yeah, I know, it's better to win a small pot than loose a big one, but when you're in the middle of a large loosing session, you really need somebody to play against you when you have AA. But then when I got a little frisky and tried to blind steal w/A9sooooted, I get 3 callers. It's so funny, in a very sad way, how that happens sometimes.

This got me thinking about something interesting. Here it is, and I did not come up with this, so don't go thinking that I'm this bright dude (I know you were about to).

Your not as good as you think you are during the winning sessions, and you're not as bad as you think you are during the loosing sessions. There it is. But it took me a while to get that to sink in. My last winning session, I was dealt pocket pairs like they were going out of style. Even a monkey could have won money with those cards. And last night, I dang sure didn't play as badly as the final loss showed. So, in a never-ending battle to remain level-headed, I try to remind myself of that. Because as soon as I think, "Hey, I'm a pretty good poker player."

BAMMMMM. Then Murphy's Law kicks me in da nads, and I go home with sore junk, and my tail between my legs. So be sure to keep a level head out there guys.

I gotta get to work, as I'm trying to keep da man from bringing me down. Keep on keepin' on.
