What A Feeling

Poker Content Only Post:

Today I played a little more at Full Contact Poker. Before today, it was a little rough, with suckouts too numerous to count. The players there are truly horrific, as they will try to bluff out hopeless pots, and other crazy stuff. Here are 2 examples of what I mean.

Example 1:
I'm seated in MP with AKos. UTG raises, limper cold calls, I three bet it and UTG caps, and both of us call. Flop is a beauty: KK5 rainbow. UTG bets, and we both call. Turn is a 6 and the UTG checks, the limper bets (At this point I figure he has the other King), I call, as does the UTG. River is a brick of a 2. UTG checks, limper bets, I figure what the heck, I raise, and UTG calls (much to my amazement) as does the limper.

Here's what they held:

UTG: AA (you guessed it)
Limper: 85soooooooooted

What I don't understand is how the AA thought his stuff was still good at that point. Cold calling 2 bets on the river in this situation is pretty risky, as you have to know that you are at least beat 95% of the time or more, under this situation. Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining, as I won the nice pot.

Example 2:

I'm in early position with QQ (off-soooooted unfortunately) and I raise and MP 3 bets it, so I cap it, and he calls. Flop is 4d4h2d and I bet (putting him on AK, AQ or big noises of AA or KK) and he just calls. Now I really think that he just has AK. Turn is my money shot of another Q. I bet, he raises (now I think that he has AA or KK), I re-raise, and he calls. River is a brick of 6 (not a diamond), so I bet, he raises, I re-raise, and he calls. I of course win as he had AA.

It took me a few minutes to digest what had just happened in that hand, as I can think of a lot better ways to play AA, especially under this situation. Mainly, raise the flop, and take control of the hand. I would have re-raised, he should have capped, and I would have check-called the entire way down, as I would think that he had AA or KK. Why in the heck would he raise me on the river, when I had already clearly shown strength????? Lucky for me though

It was nice to crack Aces and take down 2 huge pots, since they did play their hands pretty weird there.

Now I'm only $65 down at Full Contact. Yippee.

Keep on keepin' on.
