And The Verdict Is......

in favor of me!!! Here's the short version of my small claims court case:

I was awarded about $2500. His lawsuit was thrown out pretty quickly because he had nothing to stand on. In fact, his lawsuit made him look absolutely retarded, especially as a licensed realtor. And the judge made him realize that too. We even gave him a chance to settle out of court for $500 right before the trial. He said, "No. I'm here to sue." LOL!

But that's for now, because he can appeal. And my lawyer thinks that he will. Which means that I'd have to take off another day of work, and fly down to Houston again. I really, really hope that he doesn't, and it's not even about me getting $1400 (the net after paying my lawyer and my old roommate). I simply don't want to have to go back down there and do another trial. I'd try really, really hard to settle again out of court, if he decides to appeal. I'll bring it down to a net of $200 to settle out of court. At least that would pay for my flight down there, and I'd be essentially in the hole my deposit, which would put me exactly where I was before this entire fiasco started. Kinda funny how justice works, huh?

At least I'm feeling better now from my cold. I'm still blowing my nose every 10 minutes, but at least I feel about 65% now. Not too shabby, considering how horrific I felt on Tuesday.

I was supposed to work today, but I got someone to cover my shift, so I'm in recovery-mode today. So far, I've checked my email and typed this blog. Not a bad start to the day.

Keep on keepin' on.
