Annie and I had a great weekend in San Antonio, as always. Here's the breakdown of our weekend.
Friday we left Annie's around 7:00 P.M., which was kind of a late start, but I had to work until 6:00. We drove straight to Austin to stay with her grandparents. We finally made it to north Austin by 11 P.M. Not a fun drive, because we hit nasty traffic in Austin, and that forced us to take a crazy detour.
Her grandparents we waiting for us, and we had a nice chat with them until we reached a point of utter fatigue. We then got up around 6:30 Saturday morning so we could leave by 8:00. We made it to Sea World (finally after a mistake by me) by 10:30. It was great weather then, and best of all, there were very few people there. We basically had a lot of the park to ourselves for the first 2 hours that we were there.
We even rode on one of the roller coasters, and had zero wait there. Annie was scared to say the least, and the 2 guys that sat in the car in front of us got a kick out of her repeating, "Oh gosh, oh gosh!" That was pretty funny.
For those of you that are considering going to Sea World, I would tell you one thing: Just remember that it's designed for kids, so keep that in mind.
Except for the Busch bar. They have a beer tasting deal where you get to try 4-5 different beers and eat chocolate, fruit, cheese and crackers. You also get 2 free drinks there too. If I wasn't so tired by the time we went there, I would have fully taken advantage of that situation. Plus, we were only a few hours away from real drinking at Judy's house, that I really wasn't concerned about getting a shortage of beer in my system for the day.
Also, don't bother with the whale and dolphin show. It pretty much consists of a bunch of gay men (and some women) performing crazy dances/acrobatic moves, with a little whale or dolphin tricks thrown in. So bear that in mind if you heed my advice.
After finishing with Sea World we headed over to Big Judy's house. Annie and I took a short nap, before we had to get ready for the night's activities. My best friend from undergrad and his wife came over too. We had a good dinner and then headed over to the dance hall.
Long story short, Big Judy started drinking like a fish. Seriously. So, it wasn't too long before he was too drunk to be able to keep his head off the table. Until the bouncer told him that he had to keep his head off of the table. Seriously. It wasn't much longer after that moment that we went back home. On the way, Judy's wife and I thought that it would be a good idea to drunk dial her mom.....At 1:30 in the morning. She is a great mom and was glad to talk to us. I spouted off something about how she was lucky that she didn't have to drive our drunk ass home that night (which she had to do the last time I was in San Antonio). She just laughed and agreed.
Poor Judy had to be at work at 8 the next morning. We I get a call from him around 9 that morning, and he went on to tell me that he had already hurled 2-3 times that morning.
I was on the phone with him for about 5 minutes when he said, "Dude, I'm gonna have to let you go. I think that I'm gonna hurl."
I started laughing and asked him if he was serious.
He replied, "Dude I gotta go. I'm gonna hurl."
Click.
He really did have to go. I started laughing pretty hard. Poor Judy.
He managed to toss his cookies about a half dozen times this morning. Poor Judy.
We took off around 2:45. Traffic on I-35 is HORRIFIC! I think that the next time that we go to San Antonio, we are going to fly. It will just be easier, and much more relaxing.
Keep on keepin' on kids.
