Man, the weekend can never come soon enough. Neither can the start of baseball season. As I've stated before, I hate this time of year, as far as sports goes. On the good side, there are only 2 more months until the start, so I guess it's almost here. I feel like a 5 year old waiting for Christmas. I did manage to get a pretty sweet mini-season ticket package, that ended up costing me 1/2 price.
It's going to be interesting where Roger "The Rocker" ends up this year. Let's start this analysis with the worst case scenario. He goes to the mother trucking Spankees. Which, in my opinion, would be the craziest thing that he could do. Why would anyone want to return to the city that stuck so many knives into his back once he signed with the Astros? It just seems like lunacy to me.
Next worst would be him going to the Red Sox, which I don't them. I just think that going back there would be pretty difficult for him and his family, especially since his oldest son is in the Astros organization. That long plane flight back home would sure get old, since I'm sure that the Bo Sox would have to give him a similar deal as the Astros did. Meaning that he would only have to be at the games he would be pitching in. But, like I said, that plane flight would get old pretty fast.
Then I'm down to being torn, as the next two teams are my two favorite, the Houston Astros and the Texas Rangers. It's a coin flip here for me, as to which team I'd rather him pitch at, so I'll start with the Rangers first.
By him going to the Texas Rangers, he will be only 1 hour away (by private jet) from Houston. That's a big one. Secondly, he will be able to pitch in the American League, which is the best league anyway (ain't that right Big R?), and for Roger, it would be a big plus for him, as far as wear and tear goes. He would also be able to start pitching right away, as opposed to after May 1st if he goes to the Astros.
As far as him going to the Astros goes, the advantages are obvious. He's already been here for 2 years. He's in his home town. Andy Pettitte is here. They just went to the World Series.
Well, that's my take on the Rocket situation, and I could be wrong about my analysis (but not about the fact that the A.L. is better than the N.L., because I'm dead right there). I'm going to give the advantage to the Texas Rangers, and I'm making my prediction here for all to see. He should be making his decision within the next week and a half, so we'll all see pretty soon.
Keep on keepin' on.
